The Art Hotel Atelier sul Mare is a unique museum-hotel in the world. Set in a fishermen’s bay at Castel di Tusa, a delightful village on the sea’s edge, about halfway between Palermo and Messina, the hotel is situated in an area which is full of culture, popular tradition and natual beauty. In this magnificent setting among the crystal-clear sea, beach and the Nebrodi mountains, just 20km from not-to-missed Cefalù and less than 10km from S. Stefano di Camastra (important pottery centre), it is an ideal location for those who wish to be renewe in a magic and exclusive surroundings; a place of art – romantic and welcoming.
The Atelier sul Mare is an unconventional mixture of hotel and permanent museum of contemporary art. The creation of 20 of the 40 bedrooms was entrusted to artists of international fame; the result being unique masterpieces.
The art bedrooms have amazing scenarios and spaces, designed and furnished by renowned artists such as:
Danielle Mitterand, Agnese Purgatorio, Antonio Presti, Cristina Bertelli (La Stanza dei Portatori d’Acqua), Mario Ceroli (La Bocca della Verità), Fabrizio Plessi (La stanza del Mare Negato), Mauro Staccioli (Trinacria), Renato Curcio (Sogni tra Segni), Maria Lai (Su Barca di Carta m’Imbarco), Raoul Ruiz (La Torre di Sigismondo), Paolo Icaro (Il Nido), Luigi Mainolfi (La Stanza della Terra e del Fuoco), Michele Canzoneri (Linea d'Ombra), Hidetoshi Nagasawa (Mistero per la Luna), Sislej Xhafa (Il Bagno Turco), Vincenzo Consolo, Umberto Leone e Ute Pyka (Lunaria – La Stanza della Luna).
Antonio Presti, artist, Patron of the Arts and creator of the “Fiumara d’Arte”, the largest park of open-aire sculptures in Europe (2km from the hotel) is the creator of this new concept of welcome, in which guests stay in a ‘live museum’, becoming part of the work of art itself and living it.
The originality and creativity make the Atelier sul Mare – which also offers interesting pottery courses – a place full of unrepeatable atmosphere, a journey through the history, countryside and culture of this land. Passing through the white façade and elegant hall, art continues to surround customers with exhibitions while savouring the tastes of the best of Sicilian tradition.
And on the beach in front of the hotel, silence and sunsets can be enjoyed sipping a drink or a cocktail in front of the splendid sea of Sicily.

His Opinion: idées interessantes mais trop gros décalage entre art et confort .
Les salles de bains sont obsolètes et presque vétustes .
le séjour pourrait être optimal si une révision totale des sanitaires et salles de bains .
Cet hotel n'est plus aux normes actuelles .
Certains équipements sont en piteux états ( rideaux , fenêtres ).
mauvais rapport qualité / prix .

His Opinion: tolles hotel an toller lage. ein muss für kunstfreaks. mitarbeiter sehr hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend, kunstzimmer sehr speziell und anregend. für die besichtigung der kunstwerke in der freien landschaft sind etwa vier stunden (mit auto) einzuplanen. lohnt sich auf jeden fall. würde wieder im atelier sul mare logieren.

His Opinion: very interesting art rooms, we could watch the sunset from our bed (el nido), very small breakfast, about half an hour east from Cefalu which we did not really know before, nice village with nice restaurants for dinner so no need to drive to Cefalu and if so the coastline is beautiful and not so far to drive as if you take the highway.

His Opinion: Grazie a tutto lo staff che ha lavorato per rendere tanto piacevole il nostro soggiorno.
Le persone preposte all'accoglienza contagiano con il loro sincero entusiasmo, nella descrizione delle camere artistiche, che sono davvero molto belle , nel descrivere le tantissime opere d'arte che si trovano nell'albergo e mettendosi sempre a disposizione nella visita e nelle spiegazioni con molti suggerimenti sui percorsi e quello che merita di essere visto. Stupenda la Fiumara d'arte!
Ricorderemo per tanto tempo la piacevolissima colazione con le squisite torte, plum cakes e brioches, freschissime ogni mattina, preparate con tanta cura dalla Direttrice, al lavoro dalle cinque del mattino fino alle dieci di sera!
Complimenti per aver pensato tutto e per credere nell'ARTE, nella CULTURA, nel SAPERE! Grazie!

His Opinion: Die Lage ist sehr gut, der Komfort mangelhaft. Die kreativen, wenn auch manchmal aufgesetzt wirkenden künstlerischen Gestaltungseinfälle stehen Zimmern ohne Sitzgelegenheit, Bädern ohne Steckdose, Beleuchtung und Spiegel gegenüber. Trotzdem empfehle ich dieses originelle Hotel.

His Opinion: Hôtel atypique qui vaux le détour pour son originalité, toutefois la vétusté des équipements est perceptible(fenêtres, climatisation système de douche), et ainsi le rapport qualité-prix n'était pas au niveau escompté.

His Opinion: Die Lage und Ausstattung des Hotels ist super für Kunstinteressierte, für (u.a.)Badegäste wegen des steinigen Strandes nicht geeignet. Ohne Badeschuhe ist es schlicht nicht möglich, ins Wasser und wieder hinaus zu kommen, sehr schade, da der Strans ansonsten schön und das Wasser kristallklar ist. Am vorhandenen Steg fehlt leider eine Badeleiter ins Meer - ist als Tipp gemeint! Das Freiluftrestaurant des Hotels ist traumhaft direkt am Meer gelegen und das Frühstück wird mit sehr schönen, künstlerisch gestalteten Möbeln, klassischer Musik und Traumblick auf das Meer zum Erlebnis! Leider war es abends trotz Superwetters zu unserer Reisezeit Ende September nicht mehr im Betrieb.

L'hotel Atelier Sul Mare est tout à fait étonnant
Nous avons adoré le concept
En revanche, le personnel n'a vraiment pas été présent, sans doute en raison de la présence d'une école ce qui a occasionné un bruit effrayant et gêné les clients de l'hotel, dommage car cet endroit est vraiment magnifique
C'est sans doute en raison de ces perturbations.

Grandios, vor allem das Zimmer mit der "Autowaschanlage-Dusche" :-).
