Castello Di Petrata
8/10 on 1 reviews
“Castello di Petrata” is situated on an absolutely quiet plain 600 metres above sea level, just a few kilometres from the renowned city of art, Assisi, and nearby splendid city of Perugia with its rich historical and cultural patrimony.
The magnificent 14th century building, with 17th century chapel annex, is set in a fascinating naturalistic context with a spectacular view of the Umbrian valley.
The estate gives a warm welcome, typical of a private residence, creating an ideal environment for a pleasant and relaxing stay among art and nature.
The completely renovated castle has comfortable and elegant bedrooms and suites, each with different furnishings and layout. The rooms have an extraordinary panorama ranging from the Basilica di S. Francesco to Rocca Albornoziana, from the Monte Subasio Park to the Umbrian valley as far as Perugia.
The Castello di Petrata restaurant offers delightful dishes, typical traditional regional dishes, while the spacious salons on the ground floor are perfect for meetings, conventions, seminars and social events.
Besides bicycle, mountain bike or walking excursions, a nearby stables provides the opportunity to explore the beautiful countryside by horse.

His Opinion: Five years ago this was our favorite place to stay on our Italy trip, and remains mine for this trip. However, some updating is need for the bathrooms and bedding, and having a menu that rotates on a daily basis, not every other month. With only a few selections, a long term stay becomes an issue if choosing not to drive to Trento at night.
We experienced a car issue while there, and had to stay an extra night. Your help arranging this, and helping arrange a service truck and contacting our next hotel was greatly appreciated.
