“Château de l’Aubrière”, an enchanting manor dating back to the 19th century, is dreamily set amidst its 15 acre estate and parklands filled with rare exceptional species of secular trees.
It was during his visit to the castle that writer Jacques Feydeau composed his much celebrated ‘La Dame de chez Maxim’, choosing appropriately the Aubrière itself as the setting for its second act and often alluding to the town of Membrolle, though written with only one ‘l’, nonetheless a clear reference to the manor and surrounding area. The play was first performed in the ‘Théâtre des Nouveautés’ in Paris in 1899 and has since then become part of the classic Comédie-Française repertoire.
Just a short distance away from the city of Tours, the stately castle stands proudly and demurely overlooking the valley of Choisille, offering its sophisticated and appreciative guests capacious, exuberant bedchambers and suites with adjoining parlours and ensuite, many with four poster, canopied beds dressed in rich sumptuous fabrics and colours.
With fine period details such as its authentic oak parquet floors, characteristic mantled fireplaces and distinctive, antique furnishings the Château wonderfully preserves its fascinating flair of by-gone eras, whisking its enchanted guests back in time into its glorious past.

His Opinion: e' la prima volta che soggiorniamo presso un castello, e possiamo dire di esserci trovati splendidamente, grazie alla cortesia ed alla simpatia della proprietaria, che ci ha accolti in modo piu' che ospitale. la colazione ottima, la posizione tranquilla al centro di un bellissimo parco con piscina, e il castello una favola.
