Comlongon Castle
“Comlongon Castle”, in the heart of Dumfries, is one of Scotland’s best preserved and decorated 14th century Medieval castles.
It retains many of its original and unusual features such as the pink dressed sandstone, an early 15th century royal coat of arms and other peculiar highlights and details from its rich Scottish Border history.
Of course it would not be a fully authentic castle without a resident ghost, in Comlongon’s case, the ghost of Lady Marion Carruthers, who back in the 16th century, wilfully took her own life by leaping out the lookout tower, desperately wanting out of her marriage contract to an ambitious suitor who had his heart set not on Marion but on her estate.
She is still said to roam the property looking for a proper resting place.
For your royal accommodations the Castle offers luxurious opulence, with individually themed Baronial, four-poster bedrooms with en-suite and all major modern facilities.
The excellent oak panelled, award-winning restaurants specialise in locally grown freshly selected produce to create the daily changing haute cuisine menus
