A few minutes from the sea, close to Riposto’s top-notch tourist port and the marvellous Ionian Coast with its sun-kissed citrus groves against the spectacular background of majestic Etna, “Donna Carmela” is ready to welcome you in a 19th century Sicilian house, placed in the heart of a nursery specialised in Mediterranean plants – and just 25 km from the amazing town of Taormina.
Elegantly refined, the building has been refurbished in full respect of the original but given all the modern comforts. It dominates ten thousand square metre nursery garden where you may enjoy a guided tour to discover the hundreds of scents and varieties of Mediterranean plants. It is also possible to admire the proprietors’ private collection of subtropical plants – an oasis full of colours and flavours!
The courtyards in lavic paving and river pebbles, the ancient cistern, the well-stocked wine cellar and the swimming pool surrounded by secular olive trees, the comfortable spaces designed to relax and the quiet reading room, the wide halls and ample dining room with furniture cared for in detail: all this has been designed to make your stay exceptional.
The guests can choose between 18 rooms of different dimensions and style, distributed among two distinct buildings. Nine junior suites, organized on two levels, and three suites with large rooms, panoramic terraces and refined furnishings satisfy even the most demanding needs.
And an annex set amidst the plants and flowers of the nursery houses a beautiful apartment, providing a real sense of privacy and space. The Jacuzzi Gran Suite is located in the highest point of the Resort and have a breath-taking view of the sea and of the Etna volcano. Their indoor design and luxury comforts are embellished with the outdoor heated jacuzzi overlooking the entire Resort from the 150 sqm terrace. The suite has a private entrance, 3 bedrooms with en-suite bathroom, 1 living area with electric hob and on the terrace it is possible to organize private and special dinner on request.

His Opinion: Excellent hotel. Lovely set up with good facilities. The room was lovely and breakfast was superb with lots of options for pastries and cooked items. The staff were lovely and could not have been more helpful with queries.There were a couple of things which could have made the stay even better. 1. The pool got v crowded with young families and it felt as though the hotel needed a second, adult only pool which would have allowed couples without children to relax without interruption. 2. The restaurant was good for dinner but v formal with 3 tasting menus and a v formal a la carte menu. It felt as though it would have been appropriate to have lighter/ less formal options on the menu too. It would have encouraged us to eat at the restaurant for dinner more than once over the week. 3. For a hotel focused on being 'Eco', it would have been appropriate to have water refilling stations to encourage the use of reusable water bottles. Instead, guests were forced to buy bottled water. It did not seem aligned to their mission statement. 4. The gym was v small and needs to be expanded and improved to offer more cardio and weights options.

His Opinion: Wunderschönes und gepflegtes Anwesen! Wir sind schon einen Tag früher abgereist weil sie in der Umgebung ständig Sachen verbrannt haben und es sehr gestunken hat nach verbrannten sodass es unmöglich für uns war die Fenster zu unserem Zimmer offen zu lassen oder uns am Pool zu liegen.
Es wäre auch ganz toll wenn sie einen kleinen Wellness Bereich mit Dampfbad & Sauna hätten dass man auch im Hotel bleiben kann wenn das Wetter mal nicht so schön ist.
Das Restaurant war sehr gut aber von den Preisen etwas zu hoch wenn man bedenkt das sie keinen Michelin Stern haben... Die Preise an der Bar für die Drinks eindeutig auch zu hoch für das Optische und den Geschmack.
Grundsätzlich waren wir zufrieden aber es gibt definitiv noch Luft nach oben und Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten.

The breakfast is simply outstanding.
The restaurant is beautiful and in the garden - we did the tasting menu one night and that was great, but would have been nice to have some more affordable a la carte options for when you want to eat at the restaurant but not do the full tasting. We didn't want to do it two nights in a row so ordered individual dishes on the second night, but they were very small and very expensive as they were part of the tasting menu!

We were there with our family and had prepaid for a one bedroom suite and also a two bedroom suite with a private pool for our daughter and her boyfriend as well as our son. Our only disappointment was that the two bedroom suite had only one bedroom with a sleeper sofa, which was not as expected.

His Opinion: Zimmer im Haupthaus war sehr sauber, ruhig und komfortabel. Mitarbeiter waren alle sehr höflich und zuvorkommend.
Das Frühstücksbuffet war hervorragend und sie Speisen am Pool ebenfalls.
Nur der unmittelbare Poolbereich könnte etwas schöner gestaltet sein.
Insgesamt hatten wir als Familie einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt.

His Opinion: Io e mio marito abbiamo deciso di trascorrere qualche giorno in Sicilia per la nostra luna di miele e il Donna Carmela Resort non poteva essere scelta migliore!
L’ospitalità e la cortesia da parte di tutto lo staff sono stati impeccabili sin dall’inizio. Ogni spazio all’interno del Resort (dalle camere al giardino) e’ curato nei minimi particolari. Abbiamo anche avuto il piacere di cenare in uno dei ristoranti disponibili all’interno del Resort e, che dire…un’esperienza culinaria perfetta.
Ritorneremo sicuramente a trovarvi perché avete contribuito a rendere il nostro soggiorno in Sicilia ancora più speciale e magico!

His Opinion: Das Hotel ist wirklich wunderschön in einem grossen Pflanzengarten gelegen. Wir haben eine Lodge gebucht mit Infinity Pool und wunderbarer Aussicht.
Zwei kleine negative Punkte waren, dass die Früchte beim Frühstück leider nicht frisch waren. Sie sind wie beim gekauften Fruchtsalat aus der Konservendose in Sirup eingelegt, was eigentlich für eine Insel mit derart vielen frischen Früchten sehr schade ist. Leider hörten wir auch täglich ein Stromaggregat, dass praktisch den ganzen Tag lief und erst gegen Abend abgestellt wurde. Wir wissen nicht, ob dies die Klimaanlage fürs Hotel war oder für den Poolbereich ein Stromgerät war.
Ansonsten war der Urlaub in diesem Hotel traumhaft. Inmitten der vielen Pflanzen mit Blick aufs Meer und den Ätna.

His Opinion: Great hotel, good facilities and very friendly staff. Very quiet location but some nice local restaurants in the environment. Breakfast is really nice with some local dishes along the more traditional items.
One minor remark is that the bathroom in our room was quite outdated. All clean but it could use a makeover to bring it in line with the look and feel of the rest of the hotel.

Wir haben uns im schönen Zimmer und der wunderschönen Hotelanlage sehr wohl gefühlt.
Als kleiner Hinweis: Es wäre schön, wenn im Zimmer die Abfallsäcke regelmässig geleert, die Kaffeekapseln und die Dusch-/Haarwaschmittel sowie Body-Lotion regelmässig aufgefüllt worden wären.
Dass man uns einen Sonnenschirm auf die Terrasse gebracht hat, haben wir ausserordentlich geschätzt.
Sollte wir Sizilien wieder besuchen, fragen wir auf jeden Fall für ein Zimmer im Donna Carmela an.

His Opinion: Notre séjour a été formidable. L'emplacement de l'hôtel en fait un endroit calme, près de Catane, de l'Etna et de Taormina donc idéalement situé. L'établissement est décoré avec beaucoup de goût, l'accueil a été formidable et la cuisine nous a fait énormément plaisir. Nous reviendrons et recommandons cet hôtel à nos amis.

His Opinion: The establishment is maintained impeccably, the landscaping and interior design are very pleasing, the staff is very helpful and the room accommodation very comfortable.
The restaurant was very disappointing. The menu was rather restricted in choice and the wines over-priced, but the most disappointing part was when we ordered the Chef's surprise menu with five wines to accompany. In the following evenings we found that, for the most part, the "surprise" menu was really a selection of dishes from the standard menu!

Malgré l'accès difficile, cet établissement offre un cadre merveilleux à l'intérieur de la propriété. Le personnel est chaleureux, attentif et dédié à satisfaire vos désirs, avec professionnalisme.

His Opinion: A stunning property. We were treated to an upgrade from the standard room that we booked to a junior suite - very luxurious and special. The restaurant is excellent for dinner. Their breakfast buffet was one of the best we had in Sicily. The concierge booked a guide for us for a full day on Mt. Etna and we had a fabulous day. Only positive things to say about Donna Carmela.

His Opinion: Nous avons été très étonnés de constater qu'un tel établissement soit positionné si près d'une voie de chemin de fer avec tous les inconvénients que cela apporte : des trains passent régulièrement et une mauvaise isolation n'empêche pas le bruit d'arriver jusqu'à la chambre ! et la vue sur le bel Etna est entaché par les fils de la ligne !!!
