“Hotel Villa Casagrande” is a very elegant residence in the historical centre of Figline Valdarne, a town in the heart of Tuscany which is strategically placed for Florence, Arezzo and Siena. The residence dates back to the end of 1300, built by the well-known Florence notary, Ser Ristoro, and has remained in his family for many centuries, continuing the cult of art and beauty with an illustrious history.
Surrounded by Ghibelline/Guelph walls and an imposing solid tower, the wonderful fortified Villa soon became the place of innumerable meetings between artists and philosophers of that time, and hosted great personalities such as Pope Leone X, Carlo VII of Borbone, King of the two Sicilies, and Carlo V, King of Spain…
The splendid 15th century salon is a real museum with its vestiges of faraway times. Paintings of the Florentine and Siena schools can be admired, together with sculptures, furniture and armoury of inestimable value, great fireplaces and ceilings with colourful decoration. The comfortable and spacious bedrooms and apartments have the welcoming atmosphere and fascination of this unique historical house.
The Restaurant, in the ancient arms salon in winter and in the enchanting cloister with balconies in summer, offers both the strong and delicate flavours of Tuscany area which are harmoniously blended with light or international recipes – with products from its own farm estate, which already produced fine wines in 1500 preserved in great oak barrels in the ancient wine cellars.
Apart from its huge historical patrimony, the exclusive Villa boast a magnificent Italian garden, a modern well-being centre with swimming pool, sauna, gym, Spa treatments, acupuncture and even a ‘day clinic’ for beauty surgery.
