Kinnitty Castle Hotel
10/10 on 1 reviews
“Kinnitty Castle”, a gem of neo gothic architecture, nestles in the foothills of the spectacular Slieve Bloom Mountains, on an ancient druidic ceremonial ground, just steps away from the picturesque village of Kinnitty in County Offaly.
Right in the heart of Ireland this authentic 17th century estate was built around the ruins of an ancient Augustinian Abbey, whose walls are still visible to this day. Today the old Estate encompasses 10,000 acres directly accessible from the Castle, where guests can wander through unspoilt woodland on horseback and lose themselves in the peace and tranquillity of their surroundings.
Guestrooms hold a classic, old world elegance, blending the stately splendour of the original, generous boudoir spaces with period pieces, four poster beds and rich oak panelling.
This magnificent castle, tastefully refurbished preserving its charming ambiance of by-gone times, also boasts a library bar housing a unique collection of antique books and journals, an exquisite Louis XV Style Drawing Room and a gourmet dining room decorated in rich Georgian style furnishings proposing excellent cuisine, fine wines, open turf fires and soft evocative candlelight for that enchanted evening magic.
