Accurate and careful renovation of the original architectonic features of “La Locanda delle Donne Monache” has brought back the ancient fascination of this 18th century nunnery, preserving its style, form and building fabric.
Once the headquarters of the Visitandine nuns, the hotel is set in the heart of the historical centre of Maratea, the most famous tourist locality in Basilicata, which is situated in the splendid hilly countryside overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Gulf of Policastro.
Framed by the roofs of the ancient medieval ‘borgo’ village, the Locanda is the ideal place for those who wish to enjoy a vacation with a flavour of the past and discovery of the treasures of Lucania.
Thanks to its strategic position, not far from the sea and mountain, it has a breathtaking panorama and numerous itineraries of gastronomic, naturalistic and cultural interest.
Splendid views can also be enjoyed from the restaurant, which has a large variety of refined Lucania traditional dishes in an intimate and welcoming atmosphere, and also from the spacious bedrooms with canopy beds. Each suite has its own unique characteristic such as the large bathroom of the ‘La Vicaria’ suite, excavated in the rock, the enormous panoramic terrace of the ‘La Badessa’ suite or the private gardens of the ‘Le Converse’ and the ‘La Superiora’ suites.
For lovers of the sea and water sports, there is the outdoor swimming pool and the shuttle-bus service to the beach.

His Opinion: Il personale è particolarmente gentile. Abbiamo apprezzato la giornata trascorsa alla spiaggia e il trasporto gratuito.
L'edificio è molto bello e particolare, le parti comuni arredate con gusto. Per quanto riguarda la nostra camera manca forse un piccolo sforzo nell'arredamento. Le camere che appaiono sul sito sembrano molto più belle (Calera N° 4).
Non avro nessun problema a consigliarlo.
