Palazzo Maria is situated in Piazza Duomo (the Cathedral Square), in the heart of the historical centre of Cefalù, right in front of the monument which dominates the picturesque medieval town: the Arab-Norman Cathedral.
Around the Palazzo, there are fascinating characteristic little winding alleyways, small houses that have hardly changed during the centuries, set tightly among the sea and the imposing rock mass of almost 300 metres high which overlooks the enchanting scenario.
Walking about around the Palazzo, one immediately enters into the authentic atmosphere of Cefalù, the architectural wonder of the Cathedral, the ‘Osterio Magno’ summer residence of King Ruggero II, the medieval wash –tubs, the prestigious Mandralisca Museum and all the pretty trattorias overlooking the rocky coast where the flavours of traditional cooking can be discovered, whilst enjoying splendid views of the little fishermen’s port and the long sandy beaches.
The imposing Cathedral with its two characteristic belfries is one of the largest churches in southern Europe. Dating back to Ruggero II in 1100, this masterpiece of the Arab-Norman era boasts a magnificent gold Byzantine mosaic of Christ Pantocratore and a fine cloister with twin slender columns.
Also by night, the lit-up rock mass and cathedral make a spectacular panorama, recalling the medieval splendour of Cefalù.

His Opinion: Cefalu is a nice town in a lovely location. Apartment was adequate...Francesco was very helpful and responsive. Disappointed that we were not informed that the apartment was NOT in a hotel and there was NO staff nor an elevator. And because the location was in a historic district the closest parking was one kilometer away. For these reasons I believe that 120 euros per night was too expensive. I will NOT give your property a good recommendation.
